We are a methodschool (eg. leefschool) in the centre of Ostend. Our children are between 2,5 an 12 years old.
Because of this specific method we have a different way of thinking about education compared to other schools in Belgium.
As an example, parents- and childrens participation is a standard goal in our school.
Ostend is a fairly big city at the Northsea. It is the third biggest in the province
Because of our position at the coast Ostend has a transit/border function.
The city counts about 68000 people.
Ostend has a harbour, seaport, and an airport. There is a lot tourism is summer.
The city's cultural, economical and social situation, is influenced heavily by it's coastal position.
About 30% of the children in our school do score at one of the GOK indicators. Which is a Belgian indicator for social or/and economical problems in the families they belong to.
